Nephrology
A nephrologist is a specialist who focuses on kidney health.
Kidney diseases do not always cause noticeable symptoms. They may first be indicated by blood or urine test results, high blood pressure, or swelling.
When to See a Nephrologist?
A consultation with a nephrologist may be necessary if:
- Changes have been detected in blood or urine test results,
- Protein or blood has been detected in the urine,
- You have developed swelling,
- The amount or frequency of urination has changed,
- Your blood pressure is high or difficult to control,
- You have diabetes and need to have your kidney function checked,
- You have already been diagnosed with kidney disease.
Nephrology Consultation
During the consultation, the doctor reviews your symptoms and medical history and examines the results of previous tests. If necessary, additional laboratory or instrumental tests may be prescribed.
Based on the results, the nephrologist prescribes treatment and determines the appropriate follow-up plan.
