PREPARATION FOR COLONOSCOPY
Meal preparation
3 days before the procedure
- Use foods with low nutritional fiber e.g. bread made from white flour, white rice, dairy, any kind of meat, egg, butter. You may also have sweets, coffee, tea. Avoid whole grains, black rice, buckwheat, bean, lentil, peas, corn, vegetables, fruits, nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, dry fruits, sunflower seeds, thick juices.
1 day before the procedure
- You may have soups, potatoes without crust, apple juice, black coffee, tea. It is recommended to drink enough amount of clear (non-carbonated) water. Avoid any kind of solid foods, milk, orange juice, any colorful drinks with pulp, jams.
At the day of the procedure
- The last intake of non-carbonated water is allowed to drink 2 hours before the procedure.
Preparation of the intestines.
- The last meal should be taken at least 16 hours before the procedure.undefined/span.
- Our Center uses “Moviprep” to prepare the intestines: use it according to the instructions below
- 14 hours before the procedure: one pack of A and B each dissolve in one liter of clear water together and drink it, one more liter of liquid should be drunk (water, clear juices without pulp, tea) during the following hour.
- 4 hours before the procedure: one pack of A and B each dissolve in one liter of clear water together and drink it, one more liter of liquid should be drunk (water, clear juices without pulp, tea) during the following hour.
Rules for general anesthesia preparation and post-anesthesia period
- 1-3 days before the procedure You will receive a questionnaire about your health state. You will need to answer to the questions and either send it us via e-mail or bring it with You at the day of the endoscopy, so our anesthesiologist will be acquainted about Your health state.
- Do not drink any fluids 2 hours before the anesthesia.
- In the morning of the procedure you may take Your regular medicine e.g. antihypertension medications, antidiabetic medications etc.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing without any compression collar, avoid make-up.
- You will be under the care of an anesthesia specialist 45 minutes after the procedure, so please plan your schedule accordingly.
- Come to the medical center 30 minutes
- Have someone to accompany the patient.
- You may take non-carbonated fluids 30 minutes after and food 1 hour after the procedure.
- We advise not to drive any vehicles 12 hours after the procedure.
Preparation for Gastroscopy
- The last food intake should be more than 14 hours and fluids intake 2 hours before the gastroscopy.
- Please come with washed teeth.
- At the day of the endoscopy it is prohibited to chew a gum or to have a smoke.
