Our daily need for sleep is about 7-8 hours and our skin is in contact with the bed linen during that time. Dermatologist Marine Sargsyan recommends washing bed linen at least once a week or even earlier if your answer is “Yes” to the following questions:
- do you have a pet at home?
- do you sweat a lot while sleeping?
- you are recovering from an illness.
Dust mites, the invisible microorganisms that live in our bed, can cause exacerbations of certain diseases, including eczema, allergies, asthma and folliculitis (inflammation of the skin).
"Many people are allergic to dust, and a dirty bed is a good environment for dust mites, which can cause allergic reactions: itching, rash. It can also contribute to the deterioration of the skin quality.
The dermatologist notes that it is also necessary to wash the pillows and blankets in addition to washing the bed linen․
The expert also urges to:
- make the bed at least 20 minutes after waking up to avoid moisture
- wash the linen with water at a temperature not less than 600
- give preference to linen made of natural raw materials.
