When to consult a Pediatric Endocrinologist?

Parents always want to see their children healthy and happy, but sometimes even the most attentive mothers and fathers might overlook the body's first signs. Endocrine system disorders may not manifest immediately, yet early detection helps to prevent serious complications. So, what should you pay attention to?
Advice from Dr. Susanna Avetisyan, pediatric endocrinologist at “Vardanants.”
1. Weight problems – if the child is overweight or has poor weight gain.
2. Short Stature – If the child appears to have a short stature or slow growth.
3. Symptoms of diabetes – Frequent urination, constant thirst, dry mouth, coupled with rapid weight loss.
4. Constant Fatigue – If the child is always tired, falls asleep easily, or seems nervous.
5. Skin Problems – Dry skin or excessive sweating.
6. Early or Delayed Sexual Development in Girls
0. when girls under the age of 8 experience breast enlargement, armpit or pubic hair growth
1.when girls over the age of 13 do not have the above-mentioned clinical signs.
2. Early or Delayed Sexual Development in Boys
0. When boys under the age of 9 experience testicular enlargement, darkening of the scrotal skin, or growth of hair in the armpits or pubic area
1. when boys over the age of 14 do not have the above-mentioned clinical signs.
2. Excessive Hair Growth in Girls – A girl has hair growth on her face, chin, chest, abdomen or back.
3. Menstrual Cycle Irregularities – If a girl over 16 does not have a menstrual cycle, or if a girl who has had her cycle for at least 2 years continues to have irregular cycle.
